Mike Cundiff, RYT, CMT- Vinyasa Yoga
Mike began his journey of yoga in 1972. Over the last three decades he has studied with and been certified by such notable yoga masters as Baron Baptiste and David Swenson. Combining experience and practical training methods into a style that is right for EVERY body, Mike guides students to become comfortable with themselves and at the same time exceed themselves to experience not only their practice and life more fully. Mike instructs clients in numerous settings by teaching group and private sessions, conducting regional workshops, and teaching at corporate retreats. In 2002, Mike opened Mind Body Studio, Central Virginia's only facility dedicated to the Holistic Fitness arts. Located in the Historic District of downtown Lynchburg, this spacious facility offers classes seven days a week. Having introduced thousands of students to Yoga, Mike's goal is to bring the many benefits of this ancient Mind Body system of fitness into the mainstream.
Nancy Allen, R.Y.T. - Anusara Inspired Yoga
Nancy allen is a long-time yoga practitioner and a graduate of the teacher training program at Willow Street Yoga Studio near Washington, D.C. She has participated in a number of workshops and retreats and continues to study with her primary teachers, Suzie Hurley and Moses Brown. Nancy is a member of the Yoga Alliance and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) at the 200 hour level.
Nancy McAndrew - Tribal Bellydance
Nancy began studying dance at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. While working with a performing arts troupe in Lynchburg, VA, she met a gifted Tribal Bellydancer who introduced her to Tribal Style dance. After serious study and performing with a professional troupe for a time, she began to teach. Nancy educates students in the fundamentals of Tribal Bellydance, based on the traditional dances of the Middle East, Northern Africa, India and Spain.
Beth Rini, PT, GCFP - Feldenkrais
Beth graduated from Ohio University with dual degrees in Psychology and Physical Therapy 1987. Completed 4-year certification in the Feldenkrais Method* 2000 in San Diego. She has been practicing physical therapy for over 15 years in the Lynchburg area, currently specializing in chronic pain and movement dysfunction.
Teresa Julian- Stott Pilates
Teresa is a Stott Certified Pilates Instructor. Her certification includes mat, equipment based workouts, and injuries & special populations. She has over 25 years of experience in working with group exercise participants in Lynchburg, VA. She is certified by both AFFA and ACE as a group exercise instructor, is a certified YogaFit instructor, and is a graduate of Lynchburg College. Her undergraduate degree is in Accounting, with a minor in exercise physiology, and a Masters Degree in Business. As an undergraduate at Lynchburg College, she was a member of the Lynchburg College Dance Company and trained in dance in Forest, Va. at Forest Dance Academy. She trains clients both in private and group sessions. Her life’s passion is to share her love of movement with others and make Pilates accessible to all who are interested in learning more about the Pilates method of training the body.
Matthew Miller (pictured) teaches Taijiquan classes at the Mind Body Studio in Lynchburg, Virginia. Matthew lived in China for nine years, where he learned Taijiquan from Master Chen Longxiang (see photo below), a fifth generation heir to the authentic Yang Style Taijiquan lineage. Before leaving China to return to the U.S., Matthew was authorized by Master Chen to teach Taijiquan in the West. In China, Matthew also earned his medical degree from the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specializing in acupuncture. He currently lives in Lynchburg, VA where he teaches Taijiquan and, with his wife Wang Yao, operates East West Acupuncture, a private acupuncture clinic.
